My World Tuesday - Vintage VW's

As promised last Tuesday, here are more images from the First Saturday event in the City of Frederick. My grandson, Chris, and I went to see what was going on. It was the promise of seeing autos that attracted Chris, though his main interest is in cars with much higher horsepower.

This red 1970 Beetle has won a lot of awards and recognition. The owner said it was five years of effort to get it in this condition. My first new car was a 64 bug, which became a little crowded with kid number 3 on the way. In the 70's I bought a used 68 as a second car. I thoroughly enjoyed driving the VW, though the lack of air conditioning made for hot trips to Florida every August. The First Saturday in September will have an international flavor. I plan to be there with my camera.

Way cool. I would have loved to have seen these in person. But your pics were great!

Those were brilliant pics about beetles. That is a classic design.

I remember hard winters in the 80´s and dad driving that kind of bus. BBBRRR, it was cold as the heating was always broken.

Lovely vintage cars. My grandson called the VW Herbie cars, when he was five.

Gotta' love those Vdubs. I owned two different station wagons. Always wanted a bug. And still would love to have a bus.
Great captures. Thanks for taking us along.

I knew a courier in Germany who drove a Karmann Ghia. Those are strange looking cars. The beetles all look just like little beetles. Amazing how much stuff a college student can put in a beetle----lots and lots of dirty clothes when heading home to mom. LOL! Great post Lew.

Wonderful photos ... bring back memories of my past. I owned two 'vintage' VW bugs and one VW bus when they were NEW and drove them for YEARS ;--)
Hugs and blessings,

Looks like a fun day, fascinating too to think how many miles those vehicles traveled ... and where to.
