Header Challenge - Recent snapshots

Craver suggested the theme "Recent snapshots" for this week's header challenge. He suggested using some images for a recent event. Well, on the last Saturday in April, we attended the wedding of our niece, Colleen. She called beforehand and asked if I would take pictures - so I have 542 wedding snapshots from which to choose. The wedding theme was country and western, and the place was the loft of an old barn that had been converted into an event place. Both Colleen and Ron have kids from previous marriages and they played a big part in this wedding.

Immediately after the ceremony, Colleen wanted some outside pictures of the wedding party. One of the shots she requested was of the guys walking away from the camera. One of her sons jumped and kicked his heels together and that image is my header this week. After a few more snapshots like these, it was back inside for the food, dancing, wedding cake and having a great time! Previous posts are Colleen and Ron's wedding and Honky Tonk Experience.

Our World - The Honky Tonk Experience

In April, we attended the wedding of Colleen (our niece) and Ron. The wedding was a Country and Western theme, with music by The Honky Tonk Experience. They performed many of the old favorites along with some newer songs. Check their web site for dates and places where they perform if you want to hear some fine music and will be in the Richmond, VA area.

Sky Watch - Storm approaching

6:56 PM

Wednesday evening, these clouds brought us wind, thunder, lightning and an inch of rain. Before midnight the moon was shining in a clear sky.

Header Challenge - Flowers and more flowers

Tom's choice for the theme this week made my photo job easy. Marianne always wants to plant FLOWERS on Mother's day, and this year she said "plant lots of flowers". We had cool, rainy days that delayed the start, but made our azaleas and rhododendron burst with color. We moved azaleas from the front to the back and put new ones in front. Marianne filled a bunch of pots with flowers for the deck and porch. We replanted the flowers around the mailbox, splitting the daffodils and replanting them and adding more plants for color all spring and summer. The liriope border was replaced with blocks and a few clumps placed in the bed. And we added a few rocks as a final touch. (As an added attraction, I put "flower" headers on my other two blogs - links are on the sidebar).

Our World - Down by the creek

I stopped by Carroll Creek Saturday to check on the water plants. Earlier, the tropical lilies were placed in the creek. It looks like all the plant stands have been filled, but only a few are blooming. It will be spectacular when all are in bloom.

There was also a beer festival going on by the creek, with craft beer from Maryland breweries and music from several groups.

Header Challenge - Remembering Mom

My header was one of the last pictures I took of my Mom during a visit in December 1999. We had given her roses for Christmas and she was getting a close look. She was in the late stages of Alzheimer's disease and died four months later. My post gives glimpses of Mom over her 83 years.

Our World - Full of color

In spite of cool days (frost is predicted for tonight),
we have more flowers showing their colors.
