Our World - Water boys

These two grandsons began their love of water when they were less than a year old. They both take swimmng lessons and Winston can swim across the pool where they go for lessons. A visit to Greenbrier Lake is now required when they visit us.

Our day at the lake was cooler (mid 80's) than earlier this summer and they were chilly out of the water.

Goodbye smiles as they got ready to go home.

Sky Watch - Air and space

Earlier this week we visited the National Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport. The skies were cloudy and inside were examples of items that have flown in skies around the world over the years. There is also much of the history of aviation at the Museum in Washington, DC.

Our World - Grandsons, air and space

Winston and his Dad enjoy the view from the Observation tower

Earlier we had two of our older grandsons visit. This week the youngest two are visiting. Monday we visited the National Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport. The museum displays actual aircraft and spacecraft from the early days of aviation to today. There are also models and prototype aircraft on display. There have been additions since my last visit including touchscreen info panels for some exhibits.

Our World - Too soon gone

Michael and Christopher, two of our grandsons, were here for the past 4 weeks. This weekend was goodbye time. Their Dad provided the transportation and brought along their sister Christy and their nephew Bryson.

We were surprised and delighted when this little bundle of energy came bouncing in. For a two-year old he has no fear and thinks he can do everything his uncles do.

Diner out the day before they all departed.

My World - Luray Caverns

There are several caverns open to visitors in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. Last Thursday we took our grandsons to Luray Caverns. The caverns were discovered in 1878 and have been a popular attraction for over a century. The tour is  a mile and a quarter long and takes about an hour. There are narrow passages and large, vaulted ceiling rooms. One unusual addition is the stalcpipe organ, which plays music by striking tuned stalactites. Additional attractions include an antique automobile collection and a small museum covering the history of the local area.
