Our World - Signs of spring

Old Man Winter missed his flight back to the North Pole on March 19, but he is now on the bus for a slow trip north (most likely with a stop in Boston). Here, the daffodils are blooming (they have no fear of the old man) and other things in our yard are showing signs of spring.

Header Challenge - My favorite place to visit

I first saw Ansel Adams pictures of Yosemite when I was a kid (Dad subscribed to Popular Photography). I was amazed by the beauty of the place and Adams photography. In June1990 we spent a few days exploring (and photographing) this beautiful place.

One afternoon, I photographed Half Dome as the sunset. Above, the shadows are creeping up the mountain. Below, the last bit of sun light on the top.

Yosemite Falls from the valley floor.

My favorite person with whom to visit any place enjoying the sun along the Merced River.

Looking across the valley at Yosemite Falls (above)
and looking east at Nevada and Vernal Falls (below).

Header Challenge - Pictures last month

 Sunset - February 20

Kathy suggested "Pictures taken in the last month" to fill in for the very busy Craver. I interpreted this to mean images taken during the period February 18 - March 17. During this period I took 450 images. The prominent theme was winter. The weather was colder than usual and we had more snow than an average winter. But snow melted and signs of spring recently appeared. So here is a view of our past month.

Header Challenge - White

I suspect Tom also had an abundance of white when he chose this week's theme. These images were taken March 2 to 7 as two storms dropped a foot of the white stuff. The white owl and snow flake graced our mantle for Christmas and the start of the new year.
