Header Challenge - Shadows

Subject chosen by Mac. Old man winter dropped about 18 inches of
white snow, then brought the sun out to make some great shadows.

Shadows looking up the hill - this one taken from a slightly different angle than my header.

Caught this squirrel hurrying across the snow in the shadow of the tree. It is the header on Lew's pics.

And finally, a cat on the end of the fence.

Our World - Snow covered

The east coast blizzard dropped 18 to 20 inches of the white stuff around or house. It started late afternoon Jan. 22 and snowed for about 36 hours. Schools are still closed and people are still digging out. We can now get out, but have no good excuse to leave.

Sky Watch - Blizzard of 2016

The blizzard began this afternoon with light snow and trucks ready to plow and treat the roads. Friday evening we have 2-3 inches and a little wind. Snow is expected  to continue until Sunday morning and the high winds will arrive Saturday. A total of 2 feet is expected. I will update with more images tomorrow.

Header Challenge - B&W photos

Our challenge was to post black and white photos. My camera does not have a true b&w feature. It does have a feature that allows converting a color image to monochrome and my header was converted inside the camera.

I captured this roofers finishing a job in the late afternoon with almost no color in the white house and late afternoon shadows. The foggy morning sun and bare trees also resulted in a b&w  image.

These three were converted to b&w with Photoshop

Header Challenge - Some favorite photos

My header was Karma Kitty taken last January.
Next is a duck by the creek.

Then a sign in the window of a store in Frederick.

An old car seen in our travels and an iris in our yard.

And last this is my favorite image of the year (and was my header January 7)!

Header Challenge - Far, far Away

Mother and daughter.

Once upon a time 500 miles was not far, far away. We made the drive in about 10 hours. At Thanksgiving we made the trip to see our new great-grand-daughter (and the rest of the family) in South Carolina. The mileage was the same, but the traffic and time was not - both the trip and return seemed far, far away.

All in all, a delightful visit with the SC family. But Kathy's theme reminded me of how far, far away our family has spread with kids and siblings in Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Colorado and California.
