Header Challenge - Dragonflies

I saw a few of these fast flying insects this summer, but none were still long enough for me to get a shot. These were found at Greenbrier Lake last summer. In fact, the one below has previously appeared in one of my headers.

Well captured Lew, face to face eh.

It is hard for me to get a shot of a dragonfly (we call them skeeter hawks) because there are so few of them here any more. I have noticed a diminishing of these (much like the lightning bugs. )
Very nice shots!!

I'm mesmerized by the angle of the wings in that bottom photo.

They are so cool when you can get them still long enough to get a macro.

These made me think of real WW1 bi-planes :-)

Love that last one; I've never seen a red dragonfly before.

(And hi--I may be joining your Headbanger group; I'm waiting to hear back from Craver!)
