My World - Turkey Vultures

Of all the large, soaring birds around here, I see more turkey vultures than hawks. As I dropped off some bags of leaves at the compost site, I spotted two vultures over the barn. So I walked closer to them and took a few shots. They flew over to the house and perched on the chimneys. Then they took flight again, soaring overhead. As they left, I spotted another bunch off to the east taking to the skies.

Nice bird photographs. I enjoy seeing photos of birds, they're hard to get good shots of.

I don't see either where I live so I really enjoyed YOUR photos ... especially the ones of these birds in flight.

Good shots of these big birds!! I like to make pictures of birds, but mine are the smaller variety.

Terrific shots, Lew!! And those are some BIG birds!! There does seem to be a lot of them, too. We see lots of crows here -- near the house anyway. But there's a bigger variety of birds near the harbor, but so far I haven't been very successful in capturing any shots of them! Hope your week is off to a great start!

Love the one of the underside of the vulture in flight. You really get a good idea of the wings!

Great shots of the Turkey Vultures Lew. We see lots of them here in northern California, especially this time of year when they are migrating. I have seen groups of forty and more! I love the full frame shot you got from underneath.
