There are always many traveling restaurants at the fair with windows to serve you. In Maryland crabs are a must, and JB's gives you a choice of other style seafood. Beef and poultry were well represented, along with other choices. I left before my dinnertime so the root beer was all I sampled, but Marianne did chastise me for not bringing home some funnel cakes!

My World Tuesday - Great Frederick Fair
The first agricultural fair was held in Frederick County in 1822. The Great Frederick Fair dates to 1853, with fairs held yearly except for during and shortly after the US Civil War. The fair has been in its current location since the early 1900's. The fair provides an means for local farmers to exhibit their livestock and crops; homemade jams, jellies and cakes; and other hand made goods. There is also a large photography exhibit, with images that compete with any we see on My World Tuesday. The fair also provides encouragement to youngsters who are interested in agriculture with ribbons and prizes for various age groups. The fair also provides major entertainment; rides and games; and competitions with both animals and machines. And lots and lots of food! (I will be posting more fair images this week, both here and on Lew's Pics.)
Odd Shots - Fair money
I expect to see Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) in banks and businesses, but they are also at the Great Frederick Fair. And with all there is to do at the fair, I expect this ATM gets used often.

PhotoHunt - Twisted cable
A local radio station was broadcasting from the Great Frederick Fair this week. The twisted cable connects to the extendable antenna. From this location the antenna did need to be very high.

My World Tuesday - Fountain by the creek
Along Carroll Creek in the center of Frederick, there are a number of places to buy a beverage of your choice. But there is one place to get free water. The Diehl Memorial Fountain commerates a 1911 fountain which honored Marie Diehl, the founder of the Frederick SPCA. This one also serves people and their pets, though not horses.
Odd shots - Kernel out of line
We froze about 30 pints of creamed corn for the good eating this winter. This kernel just did not stay in line.

My World Tuesday - Construction update
Back in April I posted some shots of new construction under way in Frederick. Here is an update on the progress.
Odd Shots - Sturdy post
The owners of the orchard where we have bought some apples and peaches do not want their mailbox to fall.
