Header Challenge - Strange photos

We have a few days of freezing temps recently, with rain and a few snow flakes. But it was strange to see on December 11, a little snow that only collected on autos, not the ground or streets. Squiggles and lines (above), the setting sun through the trees and finally back lit leaves,

Header challenge - Hot and spicy

Not your expected peppery hot stuff! Marianne made apple sauce in her new pressure cooker this year. (Usually it is cooked all day in the crock pot.) Same good taste (hot or cold) and much less time to cook. (Still a lot of peeling, coring and chopping.)

And then into jars and the freezer to enjoy all winter!

Header Challenge - Elections

When I chose this theme for a heater I was planning to take my camera with me to vote and get some shots of folks going in to vote and all of the political signs that appear on Election Day. However, we decided to vote early. Here, the county opens 3 polling places and any registered voter can vote the week before the official Tuesday voting day. We chose to vote early and tried on the first day. It was raining; the parking lot was full so we went home. We went back a second time and the voting was easy - only a few minutes to show ID, get a ballot, mark it and put it in the scanner. Official voting Tuesday was cold and drizzly and I did not go back out with my camera, so my header is the only voting shot I have. It is the sticker given to all who voted.

Our head bangers on both sides of the big pond have now gone through contentious elections with the direction of both governments in flux and the outcome unknown. Certainly there will be much talk (especially by the pundits), but in the end I expect life will continue much as before for most of us.

Header Challenge - Fireworks

Here are a few shots of fireworks, probably taken at the Mall in Washington, DC,

 Full frame of my header.

And again with some Photoshop effects.

Header Challenge - Favorite animal

In September we lost my favorite animal, Zoey. She was rescued by the Siamese Rescue Society of Virginia. We got both her and Buster (another rescue) a bunch of years ago. Miss you Zoey.

 She loved Marianne's desk

and the fire in winter.

Some fall color for your enjoyment!
Most of my color was provided by nature, some is from purchased items.

Header Challenge - Every day objects

Christine gave us the challenge "Everyday objects" for our headers this week. I picked a few from around our house and yard,  plus one from Frederick.

Vases on the shelf above our bed

Afternoon sun on our neighbors house

Bird bath, which the squirrel thinks is a feeding station

Suspension bridge support at Carroll Creek

Header Challenge - Through the window

My header is a view through the windshield of our van. This building burned several years ago, leaving only the stone walls. My other photos are what can be seen in windows around Frederick on a warm, sunny afternoon.

This is a view from inside the Frederick Library, and below is a view of the other side of the clock and the window (on left) which provided the previous view,

A window (along with the store space) for lease, not viewing, until you pay the rent.

Hot and stormy

We have had hot and stormy weather recently. Storms have rolled through Maryland and Virginia. This one on July 25 dumped heavy rain and wind on us.

Wet squirrel was having trouble getting back to the nest.

and then clearing!

Header Challenge - missing this week

The header challenge group of five has taken a break as real life issues have made posting on specific themes difficult.  My off theme header was this black eyed Susan! Next week the theme is "Summer Heat" and we have been having plenty of it!
