Our World - Canada geese

We have Canada geese year round, but in winter the numbers increase tremendously. The above geese were heading east on February 15. The geese below were walking through a pasture today (March 24).

I don't get to see them often...they are rare to see here (South Georgia)...but when they migrate, we do get a rare chance to see (and hear them.) Majestic sight, to me!

I love to har them honking overhead durning the night as they migrate in spring and fall. On the ground, they are rather messy and you have to watch where you are walking on the paths around the lakes.

Our geese usually stay through the winter, but this year there was so much snow and cold, they had to migrate elsewhere to find food. They are just starting to come back and sadly everything is still frozen. I can only hope they are able to find something to sustain them.
