The Christmas Eve storms passed gently by us after leaving damage elsewhere. Christmas day began with sunshine and ended with gentle clouds wafting by.

Header Challenge - Food
December means Christmas, and Christmas means Marianne gets into baking goodies. Here is a sample of what we will be enjoying (and sharing). Yoiungest daughter and her guys (one big, two small) were scheduled to be here by now. The youngsters got a bad case of croup, so they will come next week. (We will save them some cookies!)
And of course, some candies from the Mars brothers. And we will have two Christmas dinners, one on the 25-th and another when they get here.
Our World - Ready for Christmas
Santa made a quick run through thye neighborhood to see that all was ready for his Christmas eve trip. The local fire and rescue folks assist ever year.
The presents are under the tree. Susan and her guys were due yesterday, but the little ones caught a bug, so they will come next week to celebrate Christmas and open presents.
Bright smiles and a bright tree at our picture wall.

Header Challenge - Just in time NOT
Thanks all for your patience and my variation on the theme. I awoke just in time Wednesday to see that dawn was approching and got a few shots (my previous plan for this theme did not pan out). The reason for my early rising was an 8:00 appointment with the dentist to complete a root canal. (The photograpy was just in time, the posting was not.)

Sky Watch - Geese and sunset
When the weather turns cold, the number of Canada geese in the area increases dramatically. They spend the days near the lakes and streams, but in the evening take refuge in the fields around the county. This group fly over Monday, honking all the way to their spot.
After a cloudy, damp start to the week, the sunset on Tuesday was spectacular!

Header Challenge - It's cold out there
It has been cold here, but not frigid yet, so I bring you some images from February 2013. Plenty cold for the first Saturday celebration in Frederick. The Girl Scouts made S'mores for folks. Ice sculptures were not melting - below is an ice love seat for those who wished to cuddle in the cold. My header is from the ice storm that brought much damage to trees in our area.
And our sink hole saga was just beginning. The hole in the street broke both water and sewer service. The crews worked through the cold and got service restored the same day. The street repairs took longer as the geologists tried to find the cause and ensure it would not recur.

Header Challenge - Christmas is coming
When I suggested this theme, we were planning a busy weekend after Thanksgiving getting ready for Christmas: outside decorations, tree decorated, and so forth. Then we got invited to spend Thanksgiving with Marianne's son and family. We had a grand time visiting and ate too much, but no Christmas decorations. Not that Christmas was forgotten as Marianne had been busy getting gifts wrapped (and we delivered some on our trip). But
our tree is bare
and we have other presents ready to mail.
My header shows the neighbors were busy while we were away.

Header Chalenge - Silver and gold
The only gold I regularly have with me is my white gold wedding ring. Below is a silver coin from the past it's value as currency is down since the date, but as metal it has increased.

Header Challenge - Waves of the flag
On July fourth, waves of kids came to Baker Park to celebrate the country's anniversary and the flag hanging high waved its approval.

Header Challenge - Cell phone pics
My old cell phone did not have a camera feature. When it died last December, the replacement had a camera (and other features which I haven't used. In my world, phones are for talking; cameras are for taking pictures. I have now taken a grand total of 20 pictures with the phone, most this week for the header challenge.
Original image size of the phone camera is 1600x1200 pixels. I tried zooming and got the result in my header. I am not giving up my Nikon!
