My World - Small flyers

Two hummingbirds have been visiting our feeder for a while; zipping in quickly for a sip or two and then disappearing. Sometimes both would feed and at other times they would chase each other away. Occasionally, they would feed when we were sitting on the bench near the feeder. On Friday this one spent over a minute feeding at the Verbena flowers on the patio, giving me time to get a dozen shots.

My World extra - The youngest grandson

Playing with big brother

Winston got top billing in my post Tuesday, so Lewis gets spotlight in this extra edition of My World. Lewis was a year old in June and is trying to catch up with his older brother in everything. He is an early to bed and early riser, but sleeps through the night. Both boys share toys with only an occasional squabble. The fourth was a comfortable day and we spent a good bit of time outside with them and their parents.

My World - Water boy

My two youngest grandsons were visiting for the weekend. Winston (four in a couple of weeks) loves water. His Mom started swimming lessons when he was about 6 months old and he now swims across the pool. When I was watering some flowers, he asked if he could run through the water and his Mom said okay. He got a little wet running in front of the hose I was using, but when the sprinkler for the yard came on, he really had a ball.

Sky Watch - Cool skies

After a bunch of days with the temperature around 100, Thursday was in the low 80's with lots of blue above the fluffy, white clouds. I went looking for some fresh corn and cantaloupes. The first place I stopped had neither, but it is a beautiful spot to take pictures of sky, farms and Catoctin Mountain. And a few vultures soaring made a nice touch. I found corn and cantaloupes at another place.

For a couple of interesting sky images from NASA, see color of sun light and sunset from the Space Station.
