Header Challenge - Railroad
Tom has given us "railroad" for a theme this week. One of my early posts on blogger was this image of the old railroad station in Frederick. The building has been designated "historic" and not in use for as long as I have lived in Frederick county. Since this picture was taken a parking garage has been built just to its left. When MARC commuter train service was established, a new train station was build one block east of the old station. The old station is still boarded up, waiting for the powers that be to find a suitable historic use.

Our World - Farm machinery
The latest farm equipment is always on display at the fair. The equipment is getting bigger and more expensive. You will need to sell a lot of corn to pay for one of these.

Header Challenge - Finished flower bed
Marianne has long wanted more flowers in the yard and after a visit to her brother's in 2013, she decided "we are doing it when we get home. The spot selected near the back fence is in view from her desk. Above the bed is dug and the supervisor's chair in place.

The finished bed this spring.
Most of the flowers are annuals. We add a few smaller plants and new hanging plants. As in all things agricultural, "finished" is a seasonal thing. Weeding is required and the annuals will be replaced next spring.
Several years ago we put railroad ties along the fence behind the azalea bed to the left the one above. Last year I got the ties to go the rest of the way. Behind the grass got done then and I finished behind the shed this June.

Our World - Pictures in an exhibition
I submitted some of my photos to the Great Frederick Fair for exhibition. The bridge (above) and the fountain (below, left) were judged second in class. Both were posted on my blogs previously.
Just some of the photos in the adult, color section.

Header Challenge - Shadows
I chose shadows for the theme this week. As the sun makes its way south for the winter, the shadows change. The shadows on the cat in my header and the owl are not possible in the middle of summer, but the morning sun is once again shining in our rear patio door. See the other challengers headers by following the links in my sidebar.
