These are some of the cluster spires made famous by John Greenleaf Whittier in his poem about Barbara Frietchie waving the Union flag as confederate troops marched through Frederick.
"Up from the meadows rich with corn,
Clear in the cool September morn,
The clustered spires of Frederick stand
Green-walled by the hills of Maryland."
These spires fill the skies and still inspire the people of Frederick (especially those of us with cameras).

Beautiful captures, wonderful history and lovely skies as well! Terrific post for the day, Lew, as always! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!!
Lew, wonderful collection of spires! And the skies look beautiful too. Have a happy weekend!
I love churches anywhere and these two are gems.
I love old church spires, especially those that are pointing with a cross on the top. Nice SWF capture!
Feel free to visit, Curious as a Cathy
What wonderful series of pictures. I am with postcrossing, and I tell you, these are much nicer pictures than any postcards I find when I try to hunt for some to send.
