Our skies reminded us that it is still winter. Monday we awoke to a few inches of snow. Wednesday we awoke to ice and the sound of limbs breaking. The power soon went off and we spent a chilly 7 hours until it returned. There were about 700 customers without power in our area and about 30,000 in Frederick County
The ice provided beautiful winter scenes,
and destruction.
Skies cleared Wednesday afternoon
and the damage is clearly visible today.
The tree trimmers are busy and will be visiting us soon.

Beautiful photos!
Wow! Looks like New England ~ Great photos of your 'winter delights' and not so delightful to lose power ~ hope you are warm and cozy now.

… as Carol said, it looks like the remains of a New England ice storm. I remember a big storm like that about five years ago, we had no power for a week, some places in the state (NH) didn't have electricity or running water for a month! Your photos are beautiful.
Lew, it is very much the same here yesterday. Very scary hearing all the trees falling down! Amazing photos and some pretty sky there. Have a happy weekend!
We had snow here today, but not this much. Snow makes some great sights, but I can do without it.
The image of the "clearing sky on Wednesday afternoon" is magical! Glad you got your power back, I remember all too well how bad it is when power's cut off in winter.
Stay warm,
Merisi
The ice makes for some beautiful images, but can be devastating to the local landscape. We had a terrible ice storm here several years ago. Stay safe and stay warm.
