Header Challenge - Thank You

Jim joined us for the trip to New York for Christopher's funeral. Back in Maryland, he got Marianne's new computer fully ready before leaving for South Carolina. It was up and running, but missing some applications that she really likes. Her files and links to the internet had not been copied.

Our World - Redone

Marianne has been on the lookout for some new pictures for the living room for some time and saw some she liked at IKEA. So we planned a trip to the Baltimore store. If you have never been to IKEA, it is big, has all kinds of things for the house, and winds you through the entire place from entrance to exit. (There are short cuts, but we usually take the long tour.) As we rounded the corner near the start, Marianne spotted sofas and said "I like that". We have been looking for a new sofa for some time, so stopped to check them. We checked prices, too measurements and followed the arrows, picking up some other things and the pictures. Back home we found sofa would fit nicely and I could fit it in the van for the trip home (IKEA stuff comes in boxed with "some assembly required"). So a second trip retrieved the sofa. The old one was donated, new one assembled and pictures hung. And we are enjoying our new seating and color addition to the walls.

Our world - Too soon gone

Too soon gone! We celebrated his life and mourned his passing with friends and relatives this past weekend. We last saw Chris at his cousin's wedding in April. Rest in peace, Chris!

Header Challenge - Panning

A Ford Tri-motor visited Frederick back in September and I stopped by the airport to take a look (and a few photos). They were giving short flights (30 minutes) to raise money. I panned as the plane lifted off for one of these flights. (Two images in this sequence previously appeared on Sky Watch)

Panning to catch a leaf (this time vertically) or maybe a dozen.  Last Thursday with the wind blowing, they were fast filling our yard. (This week I'm raking.)

Here are a few of the owls that hangout at or house. Black-hat Owl visits at Halloween and has returned to his hideout until next October. The others will be joined by the snowy owls in December.

Header Challenge - Memories

A few weeks ago I started tackling the boxes of stuff cluttering our garage. When I found a bunch of floppy disks the idea of a "memories" header struck me. The old floppy disks would hold less than half an image from my current camera and our current computers cannot read the floppies. My life has involved computer memories in some form since 1962. My header is meant to illustrate the progression of computer memories since the advent of personal computers.

 

I also uncovered more personal memories as I sorted various boxes of files and stuff: canceled checks from my college days, papers from prior work projects; and so forth. Much has been shredded and recycled, some things donated to Goodwill and some will be kept. Here are a few samples of memories I kept.

A ticket from one of our Christmas trips west when my kids lived in Colorado and her kid lived in California.

A gift from Marianne to me when we were members of a bowling league.
