For most of my photography I let the camera decide on the exposure and shutter speed. Some sky shots I took Monday looked a little dull so I applied Photoshop Auto Color Correction, with the result below.
But when applied to this image (taken 1 minute after the fist), the effect was more dramatic!
f 5.6, 1/400 sec, ISO 100, cropped
For shots of the moon, I usually go with manual mode (200 mm lens) and bracket the exposure until I get a useable image. I then use Photoshop to crop the image and make adjustments. (Occasionally I will get out the tripod and longer exposures.)
f 5.6, 1/400 sec, ISO 100, cropped,
adjust shadows, adjust contrast, auto sharpen
f 5.6, 1/800 sec, ISO 100, cropped
f 5.6, 1/800 sec, ISO 100, cropped,
adjust shadows, adjust contrast

WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES WHEN YOU KNOW HOW TO USE A GOOD CAMERA. NICELY DONE.
What a difference indeed, Lew, and you did a terrific job with your new software!! These are really superb!!
Great photos, nice edit!
Well done!
Beautiful post for Skywatch!
It is fun to play with the camera and photoshop sometimes.
Good moon watch.
Hi Lew, great photos and edits! You did a wonderful job with the Photoshop! Have a happy weekend!
Interesting post! Nice job with the Photoshop.
A bit of Photoshop (or similar) never hurts, as you have shown here. Well done with the "handheld" moon!
BTW there is is "100-rule" for taking photos of the moon: ISO 100, 1/100 sec and aperture 11. You have to use manual settings of course. And a tripod. That usually gives a very nice result.
I was going to show a moon shot today too but for some reason could not lift it into photoshop. Love the rain bearing clouds.
Sometimes you need that little help of photo shop. Nice shots have a great weekend
