Our World - Fire in ice

With the temperature 25 degrees and light snow falling, downtown Frederick celebrated the first Saturday in February. The theme was "Fire in Ice", with about 45 ice sculptures sponsored by various businesses. Ira Dixon created the sculptures. Above he demonstrates his talent at Brewer's Alley.

Ice games for the kids (note red bean bag heading for the star)

A little warmth, roasted marshmellows and s'mores.

A message in the snow

 No concert tonight

Amazing talent these ice sculptors have!
I have a fire pit like one in one of your photos. I don't get to use it much...It doesn't get cold enough here....sigh.
Smiles,
Jackie

What terrific ice sculptures, Lew! Great captures for the day! Thanks for sharing -- not something we see every day! Enjoy your week!

That is the way to do it! You have utilized the beauty of ice and snow in a very fine way.

Great ice pictures but the star picture was your capture of the flying bean bag.

The ice sculpture is neat, it would be cold to sit on the love seat though! Sounds like a fun time, great photos.

I can't believe the amount of work it takes to create these sculptures! They do a beautiful show of these back home; I miss it.

Wonderful shots! You brought back some good memories. :)

Spokane had a Fire and Ice theme a couple of years ago for First Night--their New Year's Eve cultural celebration. The sculptures were incredible.
