There are several caverns open to visitors in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. Last Thursday we took our grandsons to Luray Caverns. The caverns were discovered in 1878 and have been a popular attraction for over a century. The tour is a mile and a quarter long and takes about an hour. There are narrow passages and large, vaulted ceiling rooms. One unusual addition is the stalcpipe organ, which plays music by striking tuned stalactites. Additional attractions include an antique automobile collection and a small museum covering the history of the local area.

A trip down memory lane for me! I remember going to Luray as a young girl - many, many years ago. Glad you shared the magic with the grandchildren.
