Saturday morning, I glanced out our dining room window and spotted one of the neighborhood cats watching something in the field. So I grabbed my camera and went out to see what was happening. The cat had its eyes on a large flock of starlings and began creeping closer and of course the startled starlings took flight.
High up in a nearby tree, a hawk was keeping watch on the cat and starlings. A crow soon joined the hawk.
No creatures were injured in making this post. The starlings adjourned to the top of a nearby tree. The cat left, still hungry. And the crow and hawk soared away. (More shots of the hawk and crow Friday in my Sky Watch.)

As a child I wished for a kinder world where nature does not require one creature to eat another to survive. It is a mystery why it has been designed this way. Glad you mentioned no animal or bird was injured in making this post. :)
What a great post, Lew! It is fun to watch the animals do their thing and it's even more fun when none of them are injured in the making of the post!! I love it!! Have a wonderful week!

Delightful, Lew! I love watching starlings on the ground, because they walk so pompously. I'm glad neither the cat nor the hawk attacked them. I suppose the crow was just watching to see if anything interesting happened.
