Window Views - Heritage Farm Park

Have you ever looked out one of these moon shaped windows? When I was 4 or 5, my grandparents lived in a house where the bathroom facilities were outside. They did move to a farm house with indoor plumbing. Heritage Farm Park near us is a farm that has been turned into a community park. The historic manor house and barn still stand but most of the land is not used for recreational activities: baseball, soccer, football, golf and disc golf. There are trails for hiking and biking as well as picnic picnic facilities.

The old barn has windows, as well as vents in the brickwork which can be seen through the above window opening. The tractor windows (last image) are of a more recent vintage.

You have interesting memories, Lew! The only outdoor facilities with moon-shaped windows I remember from my childhood were at camp grounds.

I like your photos.

Great moon window! My husband grew up with one of those in southern Illinois! Nice collection of life in the country, way back when!

love the outhouse moon. I wonder how that become so common a shape? We had one at the cottage.

An excellent post. The "moon window" at our house is a small window in the laundry room through which we always look out to see the full moon. Very interesting photos. I love the lattice through the window, especially.

My country girl heart loves the old weathered wood and the tractor!
I've had my eye on one of those moon windows for a few weeks - you'll probably see mine some Window View Day.
I was just at your other blog - nice shot of the vulture!

a marvelous selection of windows to look at, Lew! Thanks for sharing them. Why do you suppose they would put a half-moon on the door of the outhouse? :)
