My World - Next crop

On July 1 the wheat in the field behind our house was harvested and the straw left in neat rows. Then the wind blew and the rain fell (about 2 inches). Yesterday, the tractors returned to the field, raking, baling and planting the next crop. This harvest was later than usual. Other farms in our area have tall corn that was planted after their wheat harvest in May. Most of the time there are 3 plantings in the Frederick area: grain in the fall, corn in the spring, and then more corn or soybeans.

Harvest time already!! We're just finally getting spring!! Terrific captures, Lew! I remember visiting my Uncle's farm years ago and riding on the tractor with him! Fun memories! Hope you have a great week!

Great farm shots - those look like huge fields. It's not harvest time in my part of the world yet, not that much farming is done out here. It's mostly ranching.

We are in our second cutting right now and it is sosososo hot outside. I feel sorry for those men on those tractors. It is rough work. I notice you all have the square bales where I am always posting my photos of the round ones. We also wrap ours in heavy white plastic...it is bizarre looking. I like the plain bales better myself. Great post. It made me feel right at home. Genie

Stubblefields have such a good colour. I love the lines and the textures after harvesting is done.
