Finished garden bed border

With 5 more granite blocks, I finished the garden border on the east side of our house. Pulled some weeds and added some mulch and now it looks much better.

PhotoHunt - water - DC Tidal Basin

Four years ago my grandson and I visited the Jefferson Memorial. We took a paddleboat tour of the tidal basin and both of these photos were taken from on the water.

Sky Watch Friday - Moon and cloud

An unusual cloud formation at sunset looking south over the fields behind our house.

Squirrel and tree

Last Saturday, I pulled in the driveway and this little guy was digging in the yard. I got out of the van with my camera and walked to the back and took a few shots. He saw me and jumped to the tree and looked around the other side to see what I was doing. He then slithered down the tree.

And then looked back up to see if this was his tree.

PhotoHunt - Bad hair

As bad as it gets . . .

As good as it gets!

New coat of paint

I posted a photo of this barn in February on my other blog. I noticed today that it has been painted.

Bridges Between - Royal Gorge Bridge

This suspension bridge spans the Arkansas River near Canon City, Colorado (southwest of Colorado Springs). The bridge was built in 1929, is 1,260 feet long, and is 1,053 feet above the river. Marianne and I were there in 1987. The bridge is part of a Park and per the web site includes more attractions than when we were there. We both took pictures there and neither of remembers who took which, so we both take credit for this post.

We walked across the bridge and rode the aeriel tram back, A thousand feet down to the river and the railroad. The tracks are cantilevered out over the river near the bridge (braces visible in the picture below).

There is an inclined railway to the bottom of the gorge. Below is the view of the bridge from the river.
