My World - New driveway

Our driveway has needed resurfacing for the past few years and we finally decided to "get her done"! The equipment arrived about 8:30 followed by the crew. They did the prep work and then left to prepare two other driveways in the neighborhood. By 1:30 they were back with a load of asphalt, spread it and rolled it and by 2:15 we had a new driveway. The crew then headed down the street to finished their other two jobs. That is a lot of hot, hard work for a day!

PhotoHunt - Purple flowers

We have several bushes and flowers that purple flowers. Here are two that are currently blooming: the dark purple of the clematis and the faint purple of the hosta. The clematis bloom on the right had the morning sun shining on the back of the petals, making it look transparent.

Sky Watch - Clouds at sunset

The clouds in the southeastern sky began to show color Tuesday afternoon. This sequence was taken between 8:14 and 8:53 EDT as the color brightened and then faded. A few lightening flashes were seen (but not photographed) as the clouds drifted further to the east.

Window Views - Hospital windows

Our oldest grand child presented us with our first great grand child last week. Our first view of Bryce was through the window to the nursery. Scroll down for more pictures of Bryce. And here is a view of the sky through a window near the nursery.

My World - First Great Grand child

Day 2: First look

After about 24 hours of trying the old fashioned way, our first Grandchild delivered our first Great Grandson, Bryce, by C-section the morning of June 15. We arrived late afternoon on the 16-th. Our first look was through the window in the door to the nursery. We did get a brief visit (one at a time) inside the nursery. On the 17-th Bryce was brought to the room for feedings and visiting with us and other aunts, uncles and grand parents. On the 18-th Mother and son went home.

Day 5: Frowning at Grandpa

On the 19-th, Bryce was much more alert and interested in his surroundings. After his feeding grandpa Jim picked him up and he looked like he was going to fuss. As Jim talked to him, his look changed to one of interest and he watched closely. His eyes seemed to be taking it all in. I was taking pictures and reached up to give the ceiling fan a little push. His eyes followed it and watched the fan for a few moments before returning his gaze to Jim.

PhotoHunt - Six shots of concentration

Grandson Lewis was a busy little guy unwrapping this present at his first birthday party. He tore the paper and put it in a pile off to his left. His Mom helped with most of the presents, but this one he did himself.

Sky Watch - Welcome home skies

On our trip home from our grandson's birthday celebration, we encountered heavy rain as we passed through Harrisburg, PA. In Maryland the rain had stopped and we spotted a rainbow, but kept on driving. Arriving at home there were blue skies with white clouds to the east, a golden glow to the west, and a rainbow to the south.

My World - First Birthday Party

Our youngest grandson, Lewis, had his first birthday party last Saturday and we had a great time with him and his older brother (soon to be 4)! Big brother was a willing and helpful particpant, helping with balloons and checking out all of the toys after Lewis opened them.

Window views - Doggie in the window

We were riding through the neighborhood Tuesday to see what flowers were blooming and Marianne spotted this second story sight. I could not resist stopping and grabbing the camera while the doggie in the window just watched us.

My World - Festival of the arts

This month the City of Frederick First Saturday celebration coincided with the Frederick Festival of the Arts. The juried arts and crafts show was held along the banks of Carroll Creek. Music, food, kayaks and paddleboats were available, providing entertainment for all ages. Over a hundred artists exhibited (and offered for sale) their work. There were other artists creating works at several locations in other locations downtown.
