Sky Watch - Winter skies a look back

February 13 - Canada geese fly over our snow-covered roof

February brought us record snowfall this year. The storm of the 5-th and 6-th brought us around two feet and then another foot or so on the 9-th and 10-th. Some spots in the county got even more. We were well stocked and did not have to go out while the roads were bad. But did get out enough to take a few photos. The two below were taken about the same time as my Sky Watch for February 19. And by the 28-th, corn stalks were reappearing in some fields.

Farm, snow and clouds on the 14-th

Clouds over farm and mountain on the 28-th

Window views - More from Frederick

More windows along Market Street in Frederick. Above is a window of Brewer's Alley, a brewery and restaurant. (Large Ice mug was for the First Saturday celebration). Below is a window of a tailor shop. And last is an old building with five windows on the second floor and two shops on the first.

My World Tuesday - Smiles

On the way back from a visit to the West Virginia grand parents, my daughter and her family spent two nights with us. The grandsons were all smiles and we all enjoyed the visit!

Geometry - Arches, shape of strength

Arches have been used for centuries to build structures that supported heavy loads. Here are two examples. Above is a pedestrian bridge over Carroll Creek in downtown Frederick built about 5 years ago. Below is the Legore Bridge over the Monocacy River in the northern part of the county. James Legore built the bridge in 1900 to speed deliveries of stone from his quarry to customers in Pennsylvania. To see more geometry, go to Katney's Kaboodle.

PhotoHunt - Daily routine

After many years rushing off to work in the early morning, my daily routine now starts with a bowl of cereal, coffee and the morning paper.

Window Views - Downtown Frederick

The City of Frederick held its First Saturday last Saturday due to the two snow storms earlier in the month. Here are some windows I spotted on my walk through the celebration. Above are some windows of the old Hendrickson building.
