My World - Old rocking chair

This rocking chair is a little older than I. Mom and dad bought it when they go married and I arrived about a year later. Mom rocked me in this chair and she rocked my kids it. When Dad died, the chair passed on to my youngest, Susan, and resides in her nursery, much to the delight of grandson, Lewis.

My World - Water boy

My two youngest grandsons were visiting for the weekend. Winston (four in a couple of weeks) loves water. His Mom started swimming lessons when he was about 6 months old and he now swims across the pool. When I was watering some flowers, he asked if he could run through the water and his Mom said okay. He got a little wet running in front of the hose I was using, but when the sprinkler for the yard came on, he really had a ball.

PhotoHunt - Six shots of concentration

Grandson Lewis was a busy little guy unwrapping this present at his first birthday party. He tore the paper and put it in a pile off to his left. His Mom helped with most of the presents, but this one he did himself.

My World - First Birthday Party

Our youngest grandson, Lewis, had his first birthday party last Saturday and we had a great time with him and his older brother (soon to be 4)! Big brother was a willing and helpful particpant, helping with balloons and checking out all of the toys after Lewis opened them.

My World Tuesday - Vintage VW's

As promised last Tuesday, here are more images from the First Saturday event in the City of Frederick. My grandson, Chris, and I went to see what was going on. It was the promise of seeing autos that attracted Chris, though his main interest is in cars with much higher horsepower.

This red 1970 Beetle has won a lot of awards and recognition. The owner said it was five years of effort to get it in this condition. My first new car was a 64 bug, which became a little crowded with kid number 3 on the way. In the 70's I bought a used 68 as a second car. I thoroughly enjoyed driving the VW, though the lack of air conditioning made for hot trips to Florida every August. The First Saturday in September will have an international flavor. I plan to be there with my camera.

My World Tuesday - At the lake

View of the lake

Monday we took our second trip with the grandsons to Greenbrier State Park for a picnic lunch, swimming and generally enjoying the outdoors. Greenbrier is about 30 minutes from home and was a favorite spot for Marianne and the boys' Dad when he was their age. The park also has a kayaks, paddle boats, bath facilities, and miles of trails, including a portion of the Appalachian Trail. (Second and third image taken on July 27, the others taken July 22.) For some more shots around the lake, see Marianne's post and my post last October.

My World Tuesday - New Grandson

We went to see our new Grandson, Lewis, on Sunday. He is not yet a month old and was sleeping when we arrived. As he awoke I took about 30 shots as stirred, looked around and let us know he was hungry. Here are a few of them. More shots of our visit are on Lew's Pics and Marianne's blog.

What's that?

Why are you taking my picture?

One more minute,

Yawn
