My World - Cherry blossoms

Last Tuesday I drove down to Washington to see the cherry blossoms along the mall. It was cool, overcast and the bloosoms were not fully open. But the display is still awesome.

PhotoHunt - Closed buildings

One building and two lots with facades in downtown Frederick have been closed for a long time. At the beginning of March, the properties were to be sold at auction. I have not heard whether the sale was completed and what the plans the new owners might have.

Window Views - Roof top windows

Many of the buildings in Frederick have roof top windows (or dormers). Above is an old cannery building that is being remodeled for offices and shops. It appears that the work has been put on hold until the economy improves. Below are new buildings with dormer styled windows. The far building with the curved roof is the Frederick County Public School office that I have posted previously.

My World - Twin spires

View from the north

The steeples of the churches in downtown Frederick have ruled the skyline for over a century. Here are three views of the twin spires of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. They have appeared on my blog before (and most likely will again!).

Sky Watch - Moon rising

First, a nice sunset;

and then the full moon peeked above the hills east of Frederick. These first three shots were taken from the top of a parking garage in the first few minutes of the moon's rise. The last two were taken from ground level about 30 minutes later. All shot with my 200 mm lens and cropped for posting.
