My World - Cherry blossoms

Last Tuesday I drove down to Washington to see the cherry blossoms along the mall. It was cool, overcast and the bloosoms were not fully open. But the display is still awesome.

PhotoHunt - Silhouettes against the sky

I love the shape of the above tree and coming up the road near our house its silhouette stands out against the evening sky. The trees below are a little further along the same road.

And the leaves came tumbling down

My World Tuesday - Falling leaves

The leaves have been falling around here for several weeks, and I decided to catch them in the act. Here are two shots of leaves before they hit the ground. And one of how many that had fallen (this is after two previous rakings of the yard. The first shots were on the 7-th. On the 15-th the tree was bare.

Sky Watch Friday - Carolina gray skies

Carolina blue was not the color of the sky for our visit last weekend. Though there was some rain during our trip and intermintent sunshine, these shots show the type of skies we saw. Above is a shot from one of the boat ramps around Lake Jordan. The two below were taken in Bro John's yard.

My World Tuesday - spring has sprung

After starting to feel like spring out side then NOT, we jumped straight to June with temperatures in the 90's this weekend.
Over the past week our cherry trees went to full bloom;

the dogwood blooms opened wide;

the lilacs bloomed;

the oak trees showed some green;

and dropped pollen over everything below!

My World Tuesday - Frederick blooming

Today started out cold at out house with ice on the bushes and this weeping maple that is just starting to open its leaf buds.

But around the City of Frederick trees are blooming. Two shots from the south side of town. Looking north on Market Street (above) and this perfectly pink weeping specimen around the corner.

And two on the north side. This tree got a trim last year, but is showing some blooms and another tree lined street.

PhotoHunt - Ruined tree

This old tree near the Frederick airport came down recently, probably felled by age, winds, disease and trimming all the branches on the one side of the tree.
