We do not usually get major snowstorms in December, but this one was a record setting snow fall. The snow started Friday, December 18 about 9 PM and by 1 PM Saturday our yard was well covered and the shed had an even covering of the white stuff.
Around 8 PM, the snow was still falling and clinging to our outside decorations and rhododendron. Late afternoon on the 23-rd, our backyard was still covered.
But Christmas night a gentle rain began and the next morning the snow was disappearing fast. Roads were closed as creeks and the Monocacy River flooded. And the field behind us again became a lake.
I know it must have been a mess as it began to melt, but how beautiful it was the first days! I love the shot of your snowy decorations! Marvelous post, Lew, and great photos as always! Wishing you a very Happy New Year! Enjoy!
we are slowly melting however, i do think we've another storm incoming this weekend and into next. just when i thought it was safe for me to be on the road to work :) nice captures lew. hoping you and yours have a prosperous and healthy 2010! ERIN
Wow ... beautiful views of this amazing wintry transformation. Hope the rain doesn't cause serious flooding issues. I'm sharing a bit of My World this week too. Hugs and blessings,

The snow scenes look great.

The shot with the shadows is beautiful. Rain over snow is never a good party!
wow! what a weather week for you.
It so pretty to look at all that snow, but I'm sure it would create a lot of mess later on.
Happy new year.
