Header Challenge - Where am I?

Actually, I am at home -  the travelers were my younger son and his two daughters. While they were here we all took a stroll along Carroll Creek in Frederick to see water lilies now blooming. Header photo by Marianne. Thanks Marianne!)

Header Challenge - Signs

My header was the sign on the McCutcheon's building where people have been buying apples and apple products for 78 years. They also had portraits of some of the famous people over the years painted near the top of the building.Below is just a few on them.

The City of Frederick dates back to the 1700's. Here is a sign on one of the older buildings.

The sign on the afternoon train

The newspaper moved to a new building, but left its sign.

Some signs have been declared "historic" and cannot be disturbed.

Header Challenge - Curves

I was enjoying the shapes (and colors) of the flowers when I thought "curves" for a header challenge. The first four shots were taken on our visit to NC.  My header is a farm a few miles of north of us. I was there to pick strawberries on the farm behind me.

Header Challenge - Gardens

We made a weekend visit to Lynn and John's for their annual end of the school year party, which has become a mini family reunion. Lynn's gardens always bring color and beauty to the festivities.

Cut flowers from Lynne's gardens adorned the tables.

and finally, an unusual dragon fly.

Header Challenge - Signs & posters

I present to you some random shots of signs, posters (and possibly a tapstry) seen in Frederick the past year or so,

My header is  one-half of an image taken the same night as my fountain header of the sign on the front of a lighting store near the creek.

Header Challenge - Small critters

We have a good number of these small critters around, along with some neighborhood cats and an occasional stray dog. (Most dogs are well behaved and stay on their leash.)

This bunny hung around for most of April and did not run when I walked by.

Header challenge - Carroll Creek at night

This week, the challenge is "water".  I chose to photograph one of my favorite subjects at night for this challenge. Carroll Creek runs through the City of Frederick business district and at times flooded businesses near the creek. The City built a flood control system that carries the overflow water underground from Baker Park to a point near the fair grounds. A linear park was created along the above ground creek, with flowers, fountains, walkways, art work and an outdoor amphitheater. Above, one of the fountains shot with flash, below without flash.

Some of the water plants.

The cascading fountain from across the creek (without flash).

Some of the water plants are blooming. The pole supports the suspension bridge. Below the view east from the bridge.
