Our World - Melting

The ground has reappeared,

 The trees are bare,

The streets are not ice covered,

and YES, the temperature was near 60!

But, more cold stuff is coming Friday.

Sky Watch - White sky day

Our sky was filled with white today and about a foot of the sky is now on the ground (and trees and house and cars, etc.)

Header Challenge - Repeated pattern

Repeated patterns abound in nature and in things we humans have made. My header is the rear of older row of houses in Frederick, architecturally similar with differences in color or window placement.  Here are some other examples.

Furrors in a field

Portraits of people who have contributed to society over the years

The rails and ties of a railroad

The petals of a tulip

The grain of a board (with sleet falling)

Our World - Thawing

We had a little bit of everything  rain to start March: freezing rain, snow, sleet and today temps above freezing. Still  there is plenty of snow, sculpted by the wind and beginning to melt.

Header Challenge - Reflections

I have been doing a meme featuring reflections on my "Lew's pics" blog for several years, so reflections are in my folders of images. When Craver hinted it might be a good candidate for a header I took his suggestion. The east and west (shown in header) ends for the building are different from the street side. This building first appeared on Lew's Pics
in 2008.

The north side reflects the parking garage across the street.

These two reflections were taken in the parking area across the street from my header.

Above, Baker Park after heavy rain and Carroll Creek over flows (creek bed is in the trees). Below, the Monocacy Aqueduct from the down stream side.

Our World - More Creek work

The Carroll Creek flood control project created a linear park along the bed of the creek and the underground carriers of the flood waters. The project starts at the edge of Baker Park (above) on the west side of the business district and ends near the fair grounds on the east side. A linear park was created along the section from Baker Park to East Street. Work has now begun on the section from East Street to Patrick Street. In addition to creating a park like setting, redevelopment of some of the buildings is planned, with addition businesses and restaurants.
