We did not have a lot of apples and oranges here as I pondered this week's header. The pear dessert that Marianne made was gone so my pondering led me to consider "fruits of our labor" as my subject. And the labor of the past several weeks has led to a bounty of blooms in our yard. so I decided to share with you some close-ups of the colors we now are enjoying. All but the azaleas in the header and the lily were acquired this June.

Our World - Another furry visitor
This young, furry creature has been seen around the neighborhood for a week or so, but Saturday was the first time I got some good pictures. It sampled the grass near our driveway, checked out the new azaleas and flowers in front of our house.
(Marianne was ready to speak harshly to it,
if eating her flowers was its intent.)
if eating her flowers was its intent.)
And finally decided the grass was greener
on the other side of the street.

Header Challenge - Green variations
There has been a lot of rain this Spring and our yard has a lot of green, so I did not travel far for these images. The green field is a farm not far from our house.
Hibiscus - color coming soon
Green and a touch of red
Green leaf and rain drops
Green fields under gray sky
Green Froggie is a courtin

Our World - Little birds
The humming bird was photographed at my Brother-in-Law's during our trip to the Carolinas. When we returned we got out our bird feeders (and acquired a couple more). We also feed humming birds and they have visited the feeder, but not while I had camera in hand. The finches and other small birds have been more regular.

Sky Watch - Reaching for the clouds
Several of the local fire and rescue companies were setup in the parking lot of Wal-Mart last Saturday. They had music and refreshments; and a beautiful sky to show off the ladder truck.

Header Challenge - BUZZ
We planted a bunch of new flowers this year and I expected to hear many bees buzzing around the yard for Tom's header challenge. But the loudest BUZZ around our house was the sound of pole saws (a nice buzz), chain saws (louder buzz) and wood chipper (DEAFENING BUZZ) as Vince and his crew removed some dead branches and trimmed our trees. The trimming is a safety concern as well as a cosmetic one. The wood chips are donated to a local farmer who mixes them with manure and spreads the mix over his fields.
Josh goes for the high branches.
All cleaned up and ready to go.

Our World - More flowers
After a visit to the Carolinas, Marianne was inspired by Lynne's flowers to create anther flower bed in our yard. Most of these are perennials and will provide us a spot of color in the coming years.
