The dogwood does set its buds in the fall, but the forsythia and iris seem to have missed the weather reports that it is not spring. Temperature is 27 F as I post (11 PM EST), but the weather folks are saying our first blast of artic air is arriving tonight and temperature will be below freezing until next Monday with possibility of snow on Friday.
This type of cold weather after budding occurs is what hurt the apple orchards in North Carolina last year.
ReplyDeletePraying for safety for the plants that are budding....
This up and down weather has been crazy. I am not looking forward to this cold weather this week though. Lew, stay warm and have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely and warm from where I'm shivering...
ReplyDeletePoor confused trees. This weather has been crazy.
ReplyDeleteI too think the trees and plants are really bewildered by the weather this year!! It has indeed been a crazy one! Hope you don't lose any, Lew, -- it does look so lovely and warm in the great shots of your world!! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a pity that all the work a plant does to produce its leaves and flowers is all to no avail when the frost appears at the wrong time.
